Sustainable financing with green bonds | TISE

Following the recent Novelis green bond listing on The International Stock Exchange (TISE), this inaugural episode of Jersey Finance’s Sustainable Finance Focus podcast series tackled the subject of green bonds.

Kay McCarthy, Head of Jersey Office at TISE, was joined by host David Postlethwaite, Sustainable Finance Lead at Jersey Finance, and Simon Felton, Partner at Ogier and who acted on the Novelis deal, to explore how Jersey and TISE can support the growth of the global sustainable debt capital markets.

Questions addressed during the session included:

  • What is a green bond? And how does it differ from a regular bond issue?
  • What is the Novelis deal? And what attracts issuers like Novelis to list on TISE?
  • What requirements are there for listing on the TISE GREEN segment?
  • How does TISE help to build investor trust around green bonds and ensure market integrity?
  • Are we seeing convergence and the emergence of a ‘global standard’ of green bond frameworks and regulation?
  • What developments will we see in terms of the overlap between ESG and debt capital markets? And how can Jersey support this?
