TISE sends good luck message to Guernsey sailor aiming for gold | TISE

The International Stock Exchange (TISE) has sent messages of support to Guernsey sailor Andrew Bridgman as he kicks off his latest world championship campaign tomorrow.

TISE, under the banner of its private markets service, TISE Private Markets, is sponsoring Mr Bridgman in his quest to win the Foiling Waszp World Championships. He will be among 180 competitors in the field for the regatta which is taking place between 6th and 10th of August in Sandefjord, Norway.

Last year, TISE backed Mr Bridgman as he finished 12th out of a field of more than 90 competitors in Melbourne, improving markedly on the 36th place achieved during his previous shot at the world championships.

Mr Bridgman said: “I’ve had a great summer training and racing across Europe in preparation for the world championships. The main challenge during the regattas in Italy and France has been getting used to racing in very light winds. There is a very subtle technique to get and stay foiling in light airs and if you aren’t one of the first to foil in light airs, it’s easy to get stuck only moving three times slower than most others. It looks like there will be challenging conditions for the world championships, but I’ve just been getting stuck into the final block of training and I’m feeling very positive.”

"All of us here at TISE wish Andrew the very best for the regatta and we will be following his progress extremely closely.”

In preparation for the world championships, this summer Mr Bridgman raced in Lake Garda and Lake Como in Italy, as well as the French Championships in Montpellier, before driving up to Norway where he has been training for the last two weeks.

Mark Oliphant, Head of Marketing and Communications at TISE, said: “We’re delighted to once again support Andrew in his mission to be number one in the world. It’s great that he’s had a successful summer so far training and racing across Europe and that should serve him well for the world championships. All of us here at TISE wish Andrew the very best for the regatta and we will be following his progress extremely closely.”

The Foiling Waszp boats sailed by Mr Bridgman are not included within the classes selected for the Olympics, although some of those who he competed against in Melbourne last year are sailing in other classes in Paris this summer while others are now part of teams competing in the Americas Cup.

"It looks like there will be challenging conditions for the world championships, but I’ve just been getting stuck into the final block of training and I’m feeling very positive.”

As part of the Great Britain contingent and under the banner of the Guernsey Yacht Club, Mr Bridgman will be sailing Barbarosa II in the Apprentice (21-39 year old) category. More details about the event, including race updates, are available here: https://racehub.waszp.com/eventdetail/285
