Supporting sustainability at home and abroad | TISE

Kay McCarthy, Head of Jersey Office at The International Stock Exchange (TISE), explores how the business is playing its role in supporting sustainability initiatives both in Jersey as well as those further afield.

At TISE we strive to support sustainability across the global ecosystem through our role as a stock exchange and the companies which list on our market. We are a Member of the United Nations’ Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, and we have a sustainable finance segment, TISE Sustainable.

This segment is free for those companies which are listed on our market and meet our qualifying credentials for sustainability, including supporting the transition to net-zero. This visibility helps to facilitate the flow of investment into sustainable initiatives across the globe.

"At TISE we strive to support sustainability across the global ecosystem through our role as a stock exchange and the companies which list on our market."

As part of our own commitment to ensure that we deliver a business model which is sustainable over the longer term, we have recently enrolled on ESI Monitor’s FutureTracker service. It is a recognised platform, providing a framework for us to measure, manage, minimise and benchmark the impact of our business operations on the environment. FutureTracker gives us the tools to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop a pathway to operate our organisation in a more sustainable manner.

Here in Jersey our office at Forum 3 is within the Polygon Collective’s property portfolio. Working within these co-share serviced offices helps to improve the impact we have on our environment.  Polygon is a Channel Islands based business which recognises the importance of protecting our island’s natural resources and contributing to a resilient community through its environmental, social and governance (ESG) policies.

Like us, Polygon also works closely with FutureTracker to calculate their scope 1 & 2 emissions and arrive at their carbon footprint as a way to inform strategies for reducing their carbon footprint over time.

"FutureTracker gives us the tools to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop a pathway to operate our organisation in a more sustainable manner."

We are proud to be playing our part in the journey to a more sustainable way of life through the management of our operations locally and provision of services to TISE’s global client base who have more than £14 billion worth of listings helping to fund environmental, social and sustainable activities.

We look forward to supporting sustainability initiatives at home and abroad into the future.
